Description

The imposing 18th Century Chateau de Vaudieu is now owned by Laurent Brechet

the relatively warm climate of this part of Germany lending plenty of ripeness to the peach/stone fruit notes with some green apple freshness and a touch of underlying minerality

This well-priced example from winemakers Jordi Masdeu and Alessandro Marchesan which is aged just a short time in oak has all the depth you'd expect but is much more approachable when young

The Zibibbo grapes are picked at the end of August then carefully dried for several months before fermentation

20% Cabernet Franc & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

'The Idiot' Shiraz, Philip Shaw 2022 Sub-region_Ribeira Sacra The imposing 18th Century ChateauPhilip Shaw is one of Australia's most talented winemakers, making wines in cooler climate style at his estate in Orange in New South Wales. Grapes for his Shiraz are grown at 900m altitude at his 47 hectare Koomooloo vineyard, resulting in a fresh, refined expression of this grape variety. This is gently scented with soft, dark berry fruit and an earthy, peppery finish, much closer to a Northern Rhone Syrah than a more typically Australian Shiraz
