The Circus ☳ Seurat ☰ Art Print dogs When first exhibitedThe Circus (1891, Le Cirque) by Georges Seurat is his third major work on the theme of the circus, and his last painting, unfinished at his death in March 1891 at age 31. It depicts a female acrobat performing on a horse at the Circus Fernando, along with other performers including the ringmaster and a clown, entertaining the audience in the bleachers, from the well dressed higher classes near the front to the lower classes in the gallery at the back.
